If you use a Bose SoundLink or Revolve as your primary PC speaker, you have likely encountered the highly frustrating auto-off feature. If no audio plays for a set amount of time (usually 20 minutes), the speaker powers down to save battery.
The Standby Timer Issue
While this feature is great for a portable battery-powered device, it is terrible for a desktop setup. Having to manually press the power button every time you return to your computer to watch a video or take a Zoom call ruins the desktop experience.
How to Disable the Auto-Power Down Feature
Since the auto-off timer is hardcoded into the speaker’s firmware, you cannot change it through standard Windows sound settings. It requires a specific hardware command.
Using a compatible desktop client, you can access the hidden Auto-Power Options. This allows you to extend the standby timer to 1 hour, or select “Never” to keep your speaker awake indefinitely as long as it is plugged in.
Keep your speaker always on: Download the AcousticLink Manager for Bose to instantly disable the auto-off timer and take full control of your power settings.
